It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James William Getchel, who left us peacefully on September 10, 2026. Jim was born on April 27, 1943, in Bradford, Pennsylvania, and he always carried a piece of his hometown in his heart.

 Jim spent his working years as a Mechanical Supervisor with CSX Railroad, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. After retiring, he enjoyed a quieter life, cherishing time with family and sharing stories from his days on the railroad, his time with his cats Callie, Momma, and Boots. He also enjoyed fishing, auctions and dinner with his friends. After retiring a highlight for Jim was driving the zippo car around the country. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Marissa Getchel, and Mollie Carroll his brother Richard Getchel, sister-in-law Cheri Bailey, and his many nieces and nephews. Jim also found joy in his role as a grandfather to his granddaughter, Sara Carroll, and he embraced every moment spent with his family.

 In keeping with his wishes, Jim's body has been cremated. Rest in peace, Jim. You will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege to know you. James was preceded in death by his wife Mary Getchel, and his mother Charlotte Getchel.
