Margaret Flowers
February 6, 1945 - September 16, 2026
Margaret Sinclair Flowers was born February 6, 1945, to Elizabeth and Clarence Sinclair in the small town of Hamlet, North Carolina. She was the first born of nine children at the time when World War II was ending. Being the eldest of her siblings, Margaret was tasked with helping out around the house and providing care and assistance to the family. It was not uncommon for her to help with the preparation of family meals, completing household chores and the ultimate responsibility of helping with raising her siblings. As a teenager Margaret worked in the fields and cropped tobacco to help bring in extra money for the family. Committed to her family, Margaret had personal aspirations of joining the military. She envisioned this as a means of having a better life. Those aspirations never came to pass because recruiters were often run off by her mother whenever they came around.
Faced with the possibility of being subjected to backbreaking labor for the rest of her life, Margaret chose to take a live in nurses' job in New York City. Against all odds and without the support of her mother, she found the courage to board a bus bound for New York City with a dream and only $50.00 in her pocket. Once seated on the bus Margaret thought of her siblings and her mother. She was overwhelmed with the disapproval of her mother who had forbidden her to leave to pursue her dreams. As she was preparing to walk off the bus, a man that she had never met before encouraged her to stay the course. His spoken words were the catalysis that would set the trajectory for her life. Simply speaking, he said, "Honey, if you get off this bus right now you will be stuck here in these fields in this little town forever". Margret made a life-changing decision. She listened to the wisdom of the stranger, stepped out on faith and moved to New York City for her life-changing opportunity.
Moving to New York proved to be one of the best decisions of Margaret's life. She excelled at her job and eventually secured a position with a very prominent airline Trans World Airlines. (TWA). Her promotions positioned her financially to be able to support her family by sending much needed finances home. Her assistance helped with the bills and clothing for her siblings and the greatest gift was the joy of being able to purchase her mother a home.
Margaret was quite the social butterfly. She joined the Eastern Stars. She was a member of a motorcycle club, and she met the love of her life, Ernest Flowers. To their union were born their two children Edith and the late Michelle Renee Galloway.
In 1995, Margaret relocated to North Carolina where she spent time raising her grandchildren until she relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in 2005. From Jacksonville, Margaret continued to devote herself to being heavily involved with helping to raise her grandchildren. She poured a lot of her time and resources into making sure her grandchildren remained in a good stable loving home. What she failed to accomplish with her children she tried to make up for with her grandchildren.
Margaret was a woman of faith, one that feared The Most High. She was an active member of Holy Nation of Truth and Deliverance Worldwide Ministries where she devoted her later years to searching out the truth and hidden things of the Word, keeping the Commandments and Feast Days. She was a humble loving soul to all that she encountered and very rarely met a stranger. She truly walked in love as the Most High commands us all and will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of meeting her.
On Wednesday, September 16, 2006, Margaret took her final step of faith. She answered the Most High when He called her name to leave her labor and enter into her rest.
